New Notebook – hand stitched spine with key closure

Finished this beauty recently! Handmade from sketchbook paper with an up-cycled leather-look cover (used to be a handbag), fancy hand stitching on the spine and a key closer attached with a suede cord that goes into a place holder inside.

New Coptic bound books

Handmade A6 notebooks, sewn with sturdy thick waxed thread, purple to compliment the cover paper. Insides are a lovely thick sketchbook paper, perfect for writing or drawing.

Travel checklist/holiday notebook

Finished my prototype holiday checklist/notebook! It has titles for destination and date, plus sections with space to write what you want- divided into essentials, toiletries, accessories, clothes and miscellaneous. Then there are a few blank pages for general holiday notes:



This one I’ve done for myself, as a tester, but I will do proper ones with neatly printed insides! It’s been made using coptic binding technique, covered in nice paper and sewn with very sturdy black waxed thread. There’s room for 8 holidays in here.

So I made up a new blank notebook. Ivory paper:

Simple black cover:

The intention was to stick a decorative metal key on the front, but I can’t quite decide how to place it. Which looks best?

A proper little hardback- first attempt

It’s taken me a while to get round to doing one of these, but I finally found the time to have a go at doing a traditionally bound hard back notebook with a proper spine.

Really enjoyed sewing up the signatures, very satisfying:

They’re actually a little loose I think, but as a first attempt I think it worked quite well.
